While art castings of this caliber have for too long a period been limited to the work of a few European foundries, we are proud to say that all our designs are made in the United States by our own American craftsmen. We make everything we sell in our own shop which enables us to closely monitor each fine casting through each and every phase of production, something not possible with cheap imports and inferior domestic castings usually made by job shops for distributors. We individually cast, chase, finish and patina each fine design completely by hand, in the old world way, avoiding the use of modern machinery and devices which impart their mechanical nature to the work of today's large foundries. We alloy our own Elias Fine Pewter using the finest and purest metals from around the world to achieve the world's finest pewter and to insure the continuous integrity of our alloy whose exact formula is a family secret. One of the key ingredients in our formula is the alloying in to our Elias Fine Pewter of a small amount of pure sterling silver which helps all its other fine elements to work in perfect harmony. This is a very costly but very effective technique and to the best of our knowledge is not used by any other pewter frame manufacturers who generally buy prepared alloy from commercial smelters. A superb casting fine alloy capable of reproducing extremely fine detail is also the secret to the matchless quality of our 18 Kt. Gold Electroplated line. Plating is usually done on cheap base metals. We use the same Elias Fine Pewter alloy and electroplate it with real gold to produce our 18 Kt. Gold Electroplated Fine Pewter frames. The use of our Elias Fine Pewter hallmarks on all our frames assures you that what's underneath is as good as what shows on top. Proudly, we believe in the credo of our forefathers, the legendary casters of the past, if its worth making it should be made "good forever." |
